Gainesville Attorney Jesse Smith is a 2006 graduate of the University of Maryland College of Law, and received a B.A. with Honors from the University of Florida in 2002. While studying at the University of Maryland, Jesse interned at the Federal Public Defender's Office in Baltimore and the Office of the State's Attorney in Gainesville. Prior to joining Avera & Smith, Jesse spent two years with the Office of the State's Attorney, first prosecuting general misdemeanors and then serving in the Domestic Violence unit for a year. Jesse now practices primarily in the areas of Criminal Defense, Labor, and Employment law in both State and Federal Court, and is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar, the Federal Bar for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
